For The Parents

Our goal for every parent of a child with special needs is to give you the peace of mind that your child is being cared for and loved. Having this peace of mind allows you to be a part of the Searchlights community and find respite for your heart and soul.

For The Children

Our goal for every child is to:

1. Learn about & experience the love of Jesus

2. To be included, accepted and celebrated! We believe every child (regardless of ability) is “Fearfully and wonderfully made!” (Psalm 139:14)

3. To feel safe, seen, and to experience connection and friendship with others! Keep scrolling to learn about our Buddy Program!

How The Buddy System Works:

1. Fill Out an Intake Form

We appreciate a “Heads Up” before Sunday (if possible) to let us know your child is coming. The Online Intake Form (below) allows us to prepare for and assign a Buddy to your child if needed (FYI: Your child’s info is only seen by his/her Buddy and the volunteer-leader).

Didn’t fill out an intake form? That’s okay! Fill one out in person and let us know you’re here! While we do our best, we cannot guarantee we can accommodate every child’s needs every Sunday.

Please be patient with us as we learn and grow together!

2. MEET YOUR BUDDY AT CHECK-IN

Come to the Kid’s Check-in table at 3:45pm on Sunday and meet your Buddy!

Your Buddy will take you & your child to our Respite room (rm 211) first. This allows your child time to acclimate before saying “see you later”. Don’t forget to bring your child’s comfort items! A favorite blanket, noise-canceling headphones, snacks, toys, iPad, AAC device, etc.
